I have been engrossed in artistic pursuits pretty much since my fingers could hold a pencil. I explore drawing, etching, painting, and computer graphics – anything that can further the visual impact and emotional communication of art.

I trace roots and influences back to New Jersey, and further back, to Mexico and Germany. With a father who entered the US in his twenties and a mother who emerged from Europe in the wake of World War II, neither of whom were eager to impress their cultural heritage upon their young daughter, I grew up inhabiting an in-between place. I draw in creative influences from the studies of historic pigments and techniques, from the many cultures pulsing through the Pacific Northwest, where I have made my new home, and from my struggle to preserve my impressions of my parent's experience and my own.

Ultimately it is about the tale that is told, remembered and filtered through time and old photographs. Then the plan to record the truth goes awry and imaginative twists of memory take the image to the place it needs to be. I want each painting to be a celebration of the power of visual images in story-telling.

    J’ai été captivée par le monde de l’art depuis mon plus jeune âge. Aujourd’hui, j’explore le dessin, la gravure, la peinture et l’infographie, tout ce qui peut contribuer à l’impact visuel et à la communication émotionnelle de l’art. 

    Je peux tracer mes racines et mes influences artistiques au New Jersey et si l’on remonte plus loin, au Mexique et en Allemagne. Mon père est arrivé aux Etats-Unis quand il avait la vingtaine et ma mère a quitté l’Europe peu après la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. Étant donné qu’aucun d’entre eux n’a vraiment insisté à me transmettre leur héritage culturel, j’ai grandi entre deux mondes. Mon style s’inspire des études de pigments et de techniques historiques, des différentes cultures qui vibrent dans le Pacific Northwest où je me suis installée ainsi que de ma lutte pour préserver mon expérience et celle de mes parents. 

    Finalement, ce qui m’importe le plus c’est l’histoire que j’essaie de raconter. Une histoire filtrée par le temps dont je me souviens grâce à de vieilles photos. Par la suite, l’intention de dépeindre la réalité laisse place à l’imagination qui transpose cette histoire sur le tableau. Je veux que chacune de mes peintures soit une célébration de la force avec laquelle les images peuvent raconter une histoire.
